Bar Price Notice

Dear Member/Supporter

Following the communication a few weeks back we are now preparing to make the changes to bar prices for this year. These will take effect this Friday 29th August.

Here’s some highlights of the new prices:

Note: Happy Hour prices apply most of the time but excludes Friday evening and Saturday. Member prices always apply unless there is a happy hour price for the product at the times they apply.

Main changes:

  • MEMBERS PRICES: not changed on any draught items.
  • MEMBERS HAPPY HOUR PRICES: Carlsberg and Thatchers Gold have increased by 5p/pint. Others remain unchanged. The only other exception is Korev had to be increased by 25p/pint to £3.55 as it was priced incorrectly in the first place on happy hour.
  • NON-MEMBERS PRICES: on main draught items have increased between 5p-20p/pint (mostly 10p/15p)
  • ALCOHOL-FREE: we have added alcohol-free options to member and member happy hour prices.
  • SOFT DRINKS: not changed for members with small increases for non-members
  • SPIRITS: mostly increased by 10p for members with a few a bit higher. Non-members prices are mostly 20p-40p higher.

We hope members will be pleased that we have been able to hold most prices largely unchanged. This has been achieved due to the great new deal we have negotiated with St Austell Brewery. Our aim with this approach is to encourage membership by increasing value. There will be continued initiatives around the club, such as events, where there are preferential rates/options for members. Another example is where members will benefit from £5 entry for 1st Team matches where non-members will be charged £9. For more information on membership please visit: https://brixhamrfc.co.uk/membership-2025-2026/

Like everyone, Brixham RFC must navigate increases in operating costs. Here is a flavour of these additional costs:

  • National Minimum Wage = +£4k
  • Water Charges = +£1.5k
  • Gas = +£2.5k
  • Other Staff Wages = +£7k
  • Grounds Maintenance = +£4k
  • Cleaning = +£11k
  • Waste = +£2k
  • Repairs/Maintenance = +£8k

There are many other increases in our operating costs, but this collection alone totals £40k. We therefore need to increase some prices to mitigate some of these increased costs to the club.

We have tried to take a balanced approach to increasing prices while maintaining value for our members and enabling us to continue to invest in developing our club on and off the pitch. None of this would be possible without the army of volunteers that run the club. It’s only with this awesome team of volunteers that you can enjoy such a wonderful club and we can maintain such low prices. Please extend your thanks to any volunteers that cross your path if you get a chance.

Thank you for your support.

Bar and Membership Price Notice

To all Brixham RFC Members

Thank you for your continued support — it’s what makes Brixham RFC such a special place.

I’m writing to give you advanced notice of upcoming changes to bar and membership prices. We know price increases are never welcome, so I want to take a moment to explain the reasons behind them and the steps we’ve taken to keep them as fair as possible.

Following a full re-tender, we’re pleased to confirm St Austell has retained our brewery contract and given us an improved deal. This will help us as we aim to keep draft beer prices for members largely unchanged (including happy hour). For non-members, most draft prices will rise by around 3–4% (15–20p/pint), with similar increases for bottled drinks, spirits, and soft drinks (for everyone). Our focus remains on delivering great value for members — including exclusive bar discounts and other benefits. New bar prices will take effect Friday 29th August.

These modest increases reflect wider pressures on the club, including rising utility bills, staffing costs, and general inflation (despite the better deal from our brewery).

We’ll also be making some changes to membership prices. These will be available to view in the coming days and purchase via the club website and via application form in the club. Here’s a sample of the revised membership prices:

  1. Club (Social) Membership: £50
  2. Season Ticket Membership: £95
  3. Men’s Player Membership: £90
  4. Women’s Player Membership: £75

(A full list of all membership options will be published very soon.)

You’ll continue to see improvements around the club — from the new Danny Irvine Lounge bar and fencing by the top pitch, to a state-of-the-art cellar system and behind-the-scenes upgrades like lighting, Wi-Fi, and fire safety systems.

Brixham RFC is a not-for-profit organisation, run for the benefit of its members and the wider community. Every penny we make is reinvested into making the club stronger on an off the field. We’re doing our very best to keep costs down while still investing in the club’s future. None of this would be possible without the incredible efforts of our volunteers. If you get the chance, please do say thank you. It means a lot.

We’re looking forward to a great season ahead and really appreciate your continued support.

If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to email me at ken.rudge@brixhamrfc.co.uk. I’ll also be available at the AGM if you’d like to chat in person.

Best regards,

Ken Rudge
Club Treasurer
