We’re excited to announce that on Friday, 31st October, we’ll be hosting our Halloween Spectacular at Brixham Rugby Club! It’s FREE for Club Members.

For insurance and safety reasons, anyone planning to be on-site between 4:00pm and 8:00pm must add their name to the list behind the bar before the event. This helps us ensure everyone’s safety and an enjoyable night for all. This applies even if you don’t plan to get involved with the event and just want to access the club. You MUST register BEFORE Friday 31st October if you plan to use the club for any reason that evening. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Saturday the 8th of November is the nearest to Remembrance Day. We will be holding a short reflection and silence prior to the 1^st XV game which will be led by our Club Chaplain, Geoff Andrews.

We would like to invite BRFC veterans take part in this moment of remembrance by joining others on the pitch before kick off. If you would like to participate please let us know ASAP.

Halloween Spectacular – Fireworks and Frights!

On Friday 31st October we’re planning a major event at Brixham RFC. Join us for a BIG party including massive fireworks display, disco, fancy dress (if you fancy it), treat stalls, spooky milkshakes and hot chocolate, merch stands for glo sticks and other flashing stuff and a disco with bars open until late.

In January this year, the RFU invited all English clubs to nominate Volunteers to be part of the Honda National Volunteer of the Year Awards 2025.   Brixham RFC nominated five members across the three categories: Unsung Hero, Game for All, and Connecting the Community.  

At the Devon v Gloucestershire match held at Astley Park in May, John Yersin, Charlie Wardman, Bryan Pitman, Mike Coyle, and Julie Sparkes were presented with Volunteer Certificates from Devon RFU, acknowledging the work they do for the Club.  Bryan Pitman was further nominated to represent the County at the National Awards to be held at Twickenham, along with John Dobson from Plymstock Albion Oaks.

More than 2,000 volunteers were nominated for the awards, showcasing their incredible impact on clubs and communities.

The nominees were welcomed last weekend at the Twickenham members’ lounge with tea and cake, a complimentary bar, and a talk by Rachel Burford, 2014 Women’s World Cup winner. This was followed by an extended behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium and its facilities, then a couple of hours off to prepare for the evening.

From the nominees, 47 local winners were invited to the Home of England Rugby for an awards ceremony hosted by Alex Payne and included dignitaries from the RFU. After kicking off the awards with a pitch-side drinks reception, a Gala Dinner and fine wine, the three national winners were announced.

Bryan won Honda National Volunteer of the Year in the Connecting the Community category for making Brixham RFC a true community hub.

He founded the Rugby Cubs programme for three to six-year-olds more than15 years ago, recently launched a walking rugby team, and partnered with mental health charity Looseheadz to train over 40 club members in wellbeing support, with the Club being part of the Brixham Bee Well group. His efforts to mark the Club’s 150th anniversary as its coordinator included a town centre display, a history and heritage exhibition, Martin Johnson and Rocky Clark Sports Dinners, and an outreach programme to promote rugby in primary schools, planting 150 trees, filling a time capsule, a timeline and wall of frames and organising a 150th Gala Dinner. The final event was the Community Festival of Rugby last Saturday.

Bryan was awarded a glass trophy, full hospitality to the England v Fuji match, plus vouchers for the Club to spend on the growth of its teams.

After the event, he was interviewed by the RFU media team and commented that he was extremely proud and honoured to represent Brixham RFC and to have been recognised by England RFU. The Club was also presented with an engraved trophy from Deborah Griffin in recognition of its 150th year.

The new season kicks off with our First Team at home against Matson. Let’s Pack the Park for this opening fixture and give our guys a huge boost by starting this season with the energy and passion we supported them with last season. You can purchase membership online or in the club using a paper form.

ONLINE APPLICATION: to purchase online you can use our website to navigate the membership options. To purchase, you will need to use the RFU’s GMS website. There are links on our website and instructions on how to set up a GMS account (needed to purchase membership online).

PAPER APPLICATION: to purchase your membership in the clubhouse, please ask for a paper application form at the bar, complete it and then pay at the bar.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS: membership cards will be available at the bar within a couple of weeks of application being paid for.

MEMBER BENEFITS: members will see a much greater difference in bar prices as we start the new season. For members, bar prices will remain largely unchanged. For non-members, bar prices will increase by 3%-4% which equates to 15p-20p/pint. Members will also receive other benefits across club activities including discounted gate entry and discounted event tickets.
