Brixham Crusaders, the formidable reserve side of Brixham RFC, epitomise the very best of grassroots rugby, fostering a unique blend of talent and seasoned wisdom. This dynamic squad provides the perfect environment for players transitioning from the Colts team into their first years of senior rugby, allowing them to learn and grow alongside experienced senior players, many of whom boast numerous first-team caps. Last season, they were second in the league and will be pushing for promotion this season.
More than just a playing squad, the Crusaders embody a clear philosophy: to cultivate an environment where rugby is profoundly enjoyed both on and off the pitch; to meticulously develop young players, guiding them towards first-team honours and beyond; to offer a welcoming haven for experienced players to passionately engage without the weekly pressure cooker; and to instill a winning mentality, underpinned by unwavering respect for all competitors. New players are always warmly welcomed and will quickly be made to feel a vital part of this awesome rugby club.
Competing in Tribute Counties 3 South & West, the Crusaders are an integral part of one of the South West's most successful and progressive rugby clubs. Situated on Devon's picturesque South Coast, Brixham RFC boasts unparalleled facilities. A recently refurbished clubhouse, complete with quality training and playing grounds, superb changing and treatment rooms, ensures a professional setting, complemented by a vibrant and welcoming social atmosphere.
Under the visionary leadership of Director of Rugby Dan Parkes, the Crusaders benefit from an exceptional and dedicated team. Headed by Dan Stead, Scott Pearce, James Onslow, and Peter Chart and ably supported by Jason Stride , Nigel Daniels, and Paul Curtis, this hard-working group is deeply steeped in the Club's rich history. Their collective experience, having achieved considerable success with Brixham, ensures continuity and upholds the high standards expected.
The playing squad remains largely intact for the season, poised to grow with returning players, the steady stream of talent from the junior ranks, and, crucially, brand new faces eager to join. Experience the professional values of an amateur club by joining a winning team. Training takes place at Astley Park, the home of Brixham Rugby, every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 pm sharp.
