Darts league

Back in the autumn Pete Cox as clubhouse manager, asked a few of us darts players to help reintroduce a rugby club darts league team as following COVID the team had not reformed.
After some active recruitment and some poaching of players, three teams have been created being named Brixham RFC A, B and C teams with a potential D team being introduced later in the year. There is also talk of a ladies’ team being formed soon… so watch this space!
The league consists of 12 teams covering pubs throughout Brixham, with many county players, super league players and established teams that have been in place for a long time together, making this a very challenging league to enter.
We have had a great start to the season –
A team are unbeaten and have played three games to date
B and C team’s unfortunate results that were very close.
The darts players have already made a big impact in the club installing new dart boards and permanent match lighting. In November we held a charity 24 hour darts marathon raising over £1600 split between the youth and the 150th anniversary fund and on Boxing Day held a club Darts blind pairs challenge where partners are drawn randomly. The winners who took a cash prize plus drinks were Rob Swinbourne and Dawn Melley and runners up who took drinks as a prize were Carl Williams and Ollie Pearce.
This week’s results were :
Rugby Club A TEAM- 16-5 Win which puts them joint 2nd and a 180 score by Steve Arr!
Rugby Club B TEAM played Rugby Club C TEAM- B Team won 16-5. This was a superb effort by the C Team who took some legs against a very good B Team with Derek Piper hitting 140 to win his leg.
Fixtures are played on a Friday night and members who are interested in playing should contact Richard Wardman on 07829 205355
The boards are available at all times for practice whilst the clubhouse is open but not when league matches are being played.
