History makes a rugby club, which is very much the case at Brixham.
Since January 2024, dedicated members of the club’s heritage team have met each Thursday to meticulously sift through a treasure trove of old club records.
Under the guidance of 150th anniversary coordinator Bryan Pitman, the team have gone through scrapbooks, vintage match programmes, historical garments, newspaper clippings, and photographs, all about the Brixham Rugby Club’s history from its formation in 1875.
Keith Gardner, who is part of the team and club President, has set up an impressive window display at former Churchills estate agents at 25 Fore Street in the centre of town. The shop front now is testament to the club’s rich heritage.
The team also plans to exhibit all the club’s history and artefacts from its founding to the present day at a week-long display in the town later in the year.

Brilliant idea. Played at the club from 1963 to 69. I have wonderful memories of that period. Tony Nicholas
