Fixtures update

Sadly the game between Bideford Colts and Brixham Colts, scheduled for tomorrow at home, has been forfeited by Bideford Colts. As a result, there will be no Colts game.

However, Brixham Crusaders will still be competing against Totnes 1st XV, with the kick-off scheduled for 2:30 pm at Astley Park.

The Brixham 1st XV game at Chew Valley is still expected to go ahead.

This Saturday (Nov 11th)

The 1st XV make the trip into the Forest of Dean tomorrow to face Lydney RFC.

Jamie Hext starts at 9, making his 100th appearance for the Fisherman.

Joe Webber is in line for a league debut as he takes his place on the bench, as is Louie Drennan who starts in the centre.

RIP- Ian Stanton, Former Chairman Barnstaple RFC

It is with great sadness that we join with our friends at Barnstaple RFC in sharing the passing of former Barnstaple Chairman, Ian Stanton who sadly passed away on Thursday the 9th of November after a long battle with cancer.

Ian has been a dear friend and opponent of Brixham Rugby Club for many years. He played in the Barnstaple first team against many of our older players in the late 70’s and 80’s. A very useful no 8 / back row player. Ian went on to become a very keen supporter, committee member and was Chairman of ‘Barum’ for a number of years.

At our last visit to Barnstaple in early September it was great that, although obviously very poorly Ian was at the past players pre-match meal, and we were all able to catch up and reminisce with him about his playing and our time as Chairman’s together.

From all at Brixham RFC, we would want to send our deepest condolences to his wife Jackie, and all the family and assure them all of our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Also to all at Barnstaple Rugby Club our best wishes and thoughts as another dear rugby friend goes over the posts for the last time.   Rest in peace Ian.

Remembrance

Remembrance Sunday – 12th November 2023

Sunday the 12th of November is the Remembrance parade, and once again, as a club, we will be joining the rest of Brixham to show our respect for all who have served and lost their lives in the service of the nation. We would love to see as many as possible join us as a club on parade. Each year this has grown and is now the largest attended parade in the bay. As a Rugby club we have the largest number on parade. The youth always cancel all their games and encourage all to attend. It would be really good if we could have a similar number from the senior club and you are all very welcome to join us.

Parade: Starting at 10:40 am the Kings Quay/Southern Quay Service: Service at 10:55 amon Berry Head Road War Memorial
